learning new stuff.. on a new day
today i re-learned how to do laundry (coz I've sorta learned it from before) and learned how to wash my own toilet.. no.. not *just* the toilet-bowl like how we do detention in our school (most schools lifted up that ridiculous idea tho, fortunately) - I'm talking about the toilet as in the *whole* toilet room, showers and all..
if you have read from my previous post i did say that starting from.. a few day back.. there's no maid in da' house.. so my mum have just taught me how to do the house chores to help her out (as she has now gained a new role of being ''housewive'' lol altho the title really doesn't suit her) and i'm telling ya now.. it's a HELL LOTTA' WORK!! now i can really feel like those prisoners detained for community service work: *cleaning the toilet* heh.. difference is.. i don't have time limit.. they do. *ha!* in any case tho, it must've taken me ages to clean that toilet.. even tho everything's cramped into a 2x1m room.. It's subjective but i think that's precisely the reason why.
Now let me tell you that I have never -and I mean never- cleaned my own toilet before, except probably to flush my own business down the toilet but let's not go there, shall we? Thank goodness tho, my bathroom (oh yeah.. bathroom.. not 'toilet room' lol) was -sorta- clean from before.. no stinking aroma.. no 'gunk' and especially nothing too serious that i can't wipe off. As such, it made my cleaning experience *that* much better. Phew! But still, there's actually a lot to do.. cleaning the tiled walls and removing dirt/black-black stuff from the sides and corners of those tiles, wiping the mirrors, wipe away dust from cabinet tops, and of course there was the shower's glass panes as well, cleaning the floor was one heck of a tiring work, the sink and lastly the toilet bowl. My mom instructed me briefly soo i couldn't really catch the whole thing - as a result, i left the bathroom virtually wet! (I forgot to dry everything up =p) lol But after the whole thing (I took a shower along with the cleaning as well), my whole bathroom was in a spick-and-span condition - with me smelling like (the cleaning) soap!
Heh.. I dunno how long I took in there but it must be that long! Coz my mom even had time to make me a cup of 'es teler' - an Indonesian desert/drink in which u mix up cut-up jackfruit, coconut, along with slices of avocado, mix it up with crushed ice and topped it off with some condensed milk. (you can probably try it in Indonesian cafés/restaurants around your area) Two words to sum it up: refreshingly yumm!! The effect has probably tripled due to the fact that i drank it at this kind of time (where in Singapore- it's mildly hot.. the perfect temperature to go swimming) and that it was to reward me of my hard work. Hahah..
So in the end, no matter if ppl may look at it as torture, cheap labour, or even 'free labour' in my case, I would view this as one heck of an experience I got with a nice reward to top it off. To sum it up: hard work pays. really.
(think I should get going too with my studies >.<)
